About PinanJitsu Martial Arts
About Our Instructor
Sensei Dave Converse has spent over 50 years studying and training in the Martial Arts and Healing Arts, and has taught classes for over 30 of those years. He currently holds a Sixth Degree Master Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo, a Sixth Degree Master Black Belt in Modern Arnis, and a Seventh Degree Grandmaster Black Belt in the art of Kiaido.
About Our Styles
PinanJitsu students learn an effective blend of Ryukyu Kempo and Modern Arnis styles, which prepares them to defend against both unarmed and armed opponents. We have our students work with as many students of other sizes and skill levels as possible so that they can implement their techniques on opponents of any body type.
Our Ryukyu Kempo
Ryukyu Kempo originated in the Ryukyu Islands south of Japan. The Ryukyu Kempo we practice is heavily influenced by the teachings of George Dillman and works well against opponents of all sizes.
Our Modern Arnis
Grandmaster Remy Presas took the ancient Filipino art of Arnis and modernized it, making it friendlier to practice and relevant to modern self defense situations.
Benefits of Training with Us
As with the study of any Art, the benefits are personal and will last a lifetime. By focusing on cultivating a peaceful mind through our dojo culture and practices, we prepare our students for any situation, regardless of whether or not it has anything to do with self defense. A peaceful mind is always appropriate. We truly hope that our students do not have to defend themselves, but if they must, they will be ready.
