Practice the art of a peaceful mind.

At PinanJitsu Martial Arts, we believe that effective self defense training involves far more than teaching a set of moves to protect oneself. Effective self defense involves cultivating discipline, respect for oneself and others, and a peaceful, fearless presence and state of mind that can allow someone to avoid many violent conflicts altogether. If students must defend themselves, we teach them how to apply the least violent appropriate response for their situations, and we practice rigorously so that the techniques can be performed as a reflex, without conscious thought. We foster a safe and friendly practice environment suitable for the whole family (Ages K - Adult). Contact Sensei Dave Converse to enroll, or check out our About page for more info.

I enrolled my son in Sensei Converse’s class in 1999 and later took classes myself. I would recommend the classes to anyone for the positive life skills learned.

My 8 year old son started with Master Converse’s PinanJitsu Martial Arts classes after a neighbor recommended them. After doing a few trial weeks at other facilities, we gave Master Converse a go. My son has now been training here for 2 years. I am so proud to see the growth in my son not just in martial arts experience, but also in his confidence, respect, motor skills, focus, and maturity. I love to see the pride he has in himself. Master Converse has been a wonderful instructor. He has so much experience but is still able to relate to the beginning level students and train them from beginner on up. I look forward to seeing my son’s skills grow in the years to come.

In the late 1990’s I met Sensei Converse when I attended a workshop at his school where he hosted various masters. I started to study with him because I liked how he would explain adult applications for the movements and have us practice the applications with different people. This helped me to understand the value of a class.
